Below are my favourite captures in order of when I saw them, all taken from posts on this blog! Read below for a bit of a discussion about my favourite moments and captures, future captures and the future of this blog.
There we have a number of my favourite images, from the fantastic and bizarre high-latitude phenomena PSCs and light pillars to temperature inversions, snow & ice, and historic flood events.
I've captured a lot of incredible natural things over the last few years, but there are still plenty I want to see or want to see again. At the top of my bucket list is the solar halo, parhelions and associated works that can appear when the sun shines through suspended ice crystals, as well as high-atmosphere phenomena like red sprites, blue jets and STEVE. There's also plenty I want to see again and get better photographs of. Essentially everything because it was all incredible, but mostly PSCs and the Aurora.
Why am I discontinuing the blog?
As for the future of this blog, Wix, the website provider I use, have decided to implement a content limit on the amount one can upload to their website. The free version now allows only 500MB, and as my site already has over 5GB, this has left me with no choice but to discontinue the blog or sign up to a monthly payment plan. At this present moment in time I don't have the finances to afford to pay for one website, let alone two, so priority must go to my main website, and this one will unfortunately have to be discontinued, at least for the time being. I've really enjoyed putting this together and it's a real shame that Wix have decided to do this as the entire point of these websites was to showcase media. I suspect they will lose quite a lot of customers, and hope they will reconsider, but I think it's unlikely. Like everything at the moment, prices are going up and access to affordable amenities and services is becoming more and more restricted. A real shame. I will continue to post similar items to this blog on my Twitter @Oskar_Brennan.
