24/01/2021 - Moon pushes through the snow clouds

In the morning we had a fairly moderate snowfall for the UK, with around 5cm on the ground by the time the snow stopped around 9am. The snow made for quite a contrast with the flooding, but that's a story for another post!

Throughout the day the band of snow moved north east before stopping and rotating just north of Leicester. The band then headed South East and the tip just caught us again in the late hours of the evening, gently dusting the cars and pavements again but not really settling elsewhere.

The interesting thing with this second dose of snow was how the moon brightly punctured the clouds straight overhead. Looking up, you could see the snow falling in front of moon which was quite an interesting experience, and unusual as the clouds would normally be expected to be too thick whilst precipitating as they were.
