It's not every day that the flood peak corresponds with a moderate snowfall, so I was out early on Sunday (24th) morning to grab some pictures before the snow was disturbed by the hoards of sledgers and snow-man builders. The snowfall began around 6:30am and fell until around 9am, eventually depositing around 5cm on the ground. The bizarre contrast of the beautiful white snow and the thick brown water made for some impressive scenes. The floodwater was also remarkably still with hardly any wind whatsoever providing some very crisp reflections too.

The actual floodwater peak was actually on the morning of 25th at 4.31m, although this level had been very steady since the 22nd and was only a centimetre off on the 24th, when the majority of these photos were taken. The 3 shots at the end of the snow-capped Malverns over the floodwater near Deerhurst were taken on the day of the peak. There are also some photos from the 23rd of the water pouring over the levee on the bank of the Severn just south of the Lower Load.

Rain on the morning of the 26th unfortunately got rid of the remaining snow at sea-level, although the hills still have a light coating. As the majority of the country got this snowfall, the rapid melt may keep the river levels high for longer.
