A video from inside the waterfall:
On the 5th of January 2023, we decided to have a look at Ristafallet while frozen, which is always a spectacular sight. This was the most frozen I've ever seen it and when I spotted a trail of footprints leading into a portal in the ice, I just couldn't resist. Tentatively, I stepped out onto the ice, constantly checking for signs that the ice wasn't holding. It all checked out and I peered into the portal. Seeing that the ice floor continued inside and plenty of footprints preceded me, I stepped in. It was incredible. The sense of movement, power and scale captured in the ice formations was incredible, and to see icicles the size of broomsticks clinging to the rock above me and the water still flowing through some of the ice walls was very humbling. It was welcoming yet hostile and off-putting at the same time. If it's safe, I certainly recommend trying it some time.
